The IT Support Initiate is our entry-level IT support role. A good initiate candidate has a strong understanding of computers and computing concepts and may have started learning about professional IT, but is only at the beginning of their journey. As such, an emphasis is placed on soft skills and attitude for this role. You will be working on technical issues and working with customers, but your priority is on customer service and interpersonal skills.
What You’ll do
- Work on simple tickets that are assigned to you
- Research questions and challenges
- Review your work with more senior technicians
- Actively seek feedback
- Spend extra time learning and studying your craft.
Skills You Should Have
- Power user on Windows or Linux (you will primarily be working with Windows)
- Capable of working on tightly-scoped tasks and issues
- Curiosity and excitement about your craft
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to accept and use feedback from colleagues and supervisors
- Able to de-escalate conflicts and diffuse upset customers
- Time management
